Fourfold guide

A little Fourfold every day

Choose a daily puzzle that suits your mood. One win is enough to keep your daily streak going; everything else is optional.

Choose your puzzle

Each new edition has Easier, Standard, and Harder puzzles. Some days also include Diabolical, an optional extra-hard challenge. You can switch difficulty whenever you like and return to an unfinished board.

The Daily tab opens on Easier below a player rating of 1,500, and Standard at or above 1,500. Your explicit selection and ongoing play take priority. Harder and Diabolical are always your choice.

Play today’s daily puzzles using the same guesses, creator hints, feedback, and result controls as other Fourfold puzzles.

A new day at midnight Central

Everyone shares the same edition. It changes at midnight in America/Chicago, following Central Standard or Daylight Time as appropriate. To earn daily streak credit, finish your win before that midnight; starting earlier does not extend the deadline.

Your streaks

Win any daily, including Diabolical, to advance your main streak. Easier, Standard, and Harder each have a smaller streak for consecutive daily wins at that difficulty. Creator hints are welcome: assisted wins count equally.

Your first qualifying win shows “Today complete.” Numbered streaks start at two. You keep yesterday’s streak while today is still open, and your personal best stays with you after a break. Miss a playable day and you can make a fresh start with your next win.

Days without a released primary edition are neutral. If a difficulty is withdrawn for everyone, that day is neutral for its difficulty streak too. Neutral days neither add a win nor break the applicable streak.

Look for two small markers once you reach two successes: an unassisted run for daily dates won without creator hints, and a Diabolical run for successive published Diabolical puzzles won on their release dates. Days without Diabolical do not break that run.

Your profile shows daily streaks alongside your other play statistics, following your aggregate-statistics privacy setting.

Which wins count?

A win on the puzzle’s release date counts wherever you opened it, even if you have seen or played the puzzle before. If you already solved it before its daily release, or you are its creator, you automatically get credit for that day—there is no need to play again. Creator credit does not count as an unassisted win. These credits never change ratings.

Losing, giving up, revealing the solution, or finishing practice after a loss does not extend a streak. You can still enjoy the puzzle and try another daily.

Guests can play too. Sign in before that day’s Central midnight to keep a verified same-day win on your account. Claiming a guest win does not award retrospective rating changes.

Explore the archive

The calendar links to past editions and marks your completed puzzles. Older dates can have fewer than three puzzles. Archive wins mark your progress, but never extend or repair streaks.

New daily puzzles join the wider catalogue the following day. Puzzles that were already public remain available there. Historical titles ending in IV identify the Diabolical slot; the original titles are preserved.

Ratings, feedback, and sharing

Daily puzzles follow the usual Ranked, Discovery, and Casual eligibility rules. Daily streak credit is separate from rating changes. After a finished attempt, your homepage returns to recommendations while keeping the other daily puzzles within reach.

Share your result from the result screen. Daily shares include the date, difficulty, outcome, and assistance status without revealing clues or answers.
